The latest episode of Writing In Suburbia is here!
This week I am exceptionally rambly. I know, I know, that is saying a lot. But, hey, it’s been a weird couple of weeks and I needed a few minutes to just purge and get my head on straight. It’s all part of the writing process and experience.
So, in this week’s episode I talk about all the stuff I know (almost) nothing about when it comes to being a writer. I made a list. It was eye opening. So much stuff. Lots of stuff. All the stuff.
And, if you enjoy the podcast, then do me a favor and write a review on iTunes! Only takes a second or two.

Welcome back to another episode of Writing In Suburbia.
Today is my birthday. I turn 43. This has special meaning to me. It means I lived. I made it. I didn’t implode.
Since the beginning of September there has been a special blog campaign called #HoldOnToTheLight where over 100+ scifi/fantasy writers have been posting about mental health issues, domestic violence issues, substance abuse issues, and so much more. In today’s episode I read my contribution that I posted to my website.
Enjoy.
About the campaign:
#HoldOntoTheLight is a blog campaign encompassing blog posts by fantasy and science fiction authors around the world in an effort to raise awareness around treatment for depression, suicide prevention, domestic violence intervention, PTSD initiatives, bullying prevention and other mental health-related issues. We believe fandom should be supportive, welcoming and inclusive, in the long tradition of fandom taking care of its own. We encourage readers and fans to seek the help they or their loved ones need without shame or embarrassment.
Please consider donating to or volunteering for organizations dedicated to treatment and prevention such as: American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Home for the Warriors (PTSD), National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Canadian Mental Health Association, MIND (UK), SANE (UK), BeyondBlue (Australia), To Write Love On Her Arms and the National Suicide Prevention Hotline.
And, well, it basically dovetails directly off the subject of the last episode. I don’t think what I’ll be talking about is going to go in the direction you think. Seriously. I wouldn’t have thought I’d be talking about this when I recorded last week’s episode. Obviously.
Well, you’ll see.
Oh, hey, and sign up on my mailing list so you can get exclusive access to audio and video readings of Friday Night Drabble Party, as well as excerpts from my current works in progress!
This week I chat about marketing and all that crap. I talk a little about what I do, and what I don’t do, and the whys. I don’t always do what I should and there are reasons. Listen and find out those reasons! REASONS!
