• Friday is here and the dawn of another great weekend is before us! Huzzah!

Before you get too cozy and settle in to read tonight’s drabble, I need to let you know that something pretty cool is happening.

Now, when I say limited I mean limited. Only 52 signed and numbered copies will be printed. This is a collectors edition, folks. And copies will only be available for pre-order for the next 12 days. I kid you not. If you want a copy, and you do, then you best be ordering ASAP!

Alright, enough shilling! Time for the 100 words you have all been dying to read for a week now!

    Enjoy!

    In A Pinch
    By
    Jake Bible

If no other weapons are available, pasta will do in a pinch. Uncooked, of course.

I learned that the hard way. Or easy way. Depends on how you look at it.

Gun empty, out of extra magazines, my knife halfway across the kitchen, the kitchen’s knives on one of those goddamn magnetic strips all the way across the room, pots and pans out of reach, and three bullets in my right leg. Two in the calf, one in the thigh, if you need to know.

    That left pasta. Linguine, specifically.

The trick is to aim for the eyes.

    Job done.

  • That’s right, my friends! The novel that started it all is now available as a Limited Edition Hardcover!

I am working with DarkMuse Syndicate (a partner of DarkFuse Press) to put out 52 copies of a signed, numbered hardcover of the first book in the Z-Burbia series. 52 copies only, y’all!

Now, my mailing list folks got first choice yesterday, but the book has only officially been available since midnight. You still have time! But not much, yo. DarkFuse is offering these books to their entire subscriber list, so I’d advise moving fast if you want a copy. Once they are gone, they are gone!

Hop to it and click the pic!

  • Here we are again. You. Me. A Drabble between us. It’s like it’s fate.

Welcome back to the party, y’all. THE party. No other party going on tonight. Nope. Plenty of drinking and crying, but not much partying.

    Anyhoo…

I hope you enjoy tonight’s 100 words. Maybe they’ll inspire you. Give you a feeling of wonder. You remember that feeling, right? It’s that feeling I try to capture every time I write. But, it should be a feeling we all bring to the world every single day no matter the job.

    Bring wonder, y’all.

    Enjoy.

    Pretend For Real
    By
    Jake Bible

    “Captain! The engines are overheating!”

    “Divert power to shields!”

    “But, sir–!”

    “DO IT!”

It had come out of nowhere. The system they were exploring should have been empty, but there it was, guns blazing and on a collision course with them.

“Fire torpedoes! Blow it out of the sky!”

    “Space.”

    “What?”

    “Space. Not sky.”

“Why do you have to be such a bummer, Nick?”

The kid, Nick, about eight, turned around, the cardboard taped to his chair falling off as a bit of tape came loose.

“If we’re going to pretend then we need to pretend for real, Paul. Jeez.”

  • Time again for 100 words of pure AWESOME!

But, before we dive into the micro-fiction, I need a little help.

Stone Cold Bastards is on the “Can’t Wait” Books of 2017 list on Goodreads. It’s hovering around #105. All it needs is a few more votes and it’ll break the Top 100 and get to the first page. This is a big deal, y’all. Don’t have a Goodreads account? Now’s the time to create one. In fact, if you have an Amazon account you should be able to use that. Makes signing up and logging in simple. CLICK HERE GO VOTE FOR THE BASTARDS!

    Now, on with the Drabble!

    Enjoy!

    All In The Hopes
    By
    Jake Bible

The swing arm creaked, its hinges not having been used in close to a decade, as Lester pulled the mic close to his lips.

“This is Lester Gomez,” he said, his voice shaky and unsure. “I’m hoping someone, anyone is out there to hear me. It’s been fifteen years since the event. Fifteen years. I finally got this transmitter station up and going. I’m using solar, wind, even a pedal bike, to power it. All in the hopes…”

He trailed off, his voice choked with emotion.

“All in the hopes I’m not the last person left alive on this planet.”
